No pity parties here

Takako is quick to tell anyone who will listen “There are NO PITY PARTIES around here! I don’t attend them and I don’t host them!”

On February 16, 2020, Takako went into cardiac arrest and her life literally changed in a heartbeat.  Not only had she lost partial eyesight, doctors only gave her a 10 percent chance to live throughout the night. After dealing with a short bout of depression and entering a rehab center to relearn her physical skills, she decided to move to Little Rock and attend World Services for the Blind. Her anxiety was high, but she was determined that she could make it. She says “I thought this was the end of the world, but soon realized that WSB was really the new beginning that I needed”.

Takako is currently in the Customer Services Program at WSB. While here, she always has a smile on her face that makes everyone around her smile too. She remains positive with her life and in her studies. She is motivated and continues to make progress.

In Takako’s words… “WSB has been a blessing in my life. I wake up in the morning and tell myself that nothing is going to happen today, tomorrow, or next week that I can’t handle. I grew up in a big family and I know that they too are always there to show their support. I am in an environment where I feel I can grow and have a future.  I will forever be indebted to my personal faith and WSB.”
